Working in partnership
Alchemy - Tunstall Primary Gardening Collaboration Project
22nd March 2023
Giving something back to the community Alchemy students have started a partnership with a local primary school to help develop their school enviroment.
Alchemy students ably assisted by Jay have been helping students at Tunstall Primary discover the joys of gardening. Every Friday they visit the school to help a different group of Year 3 students work on their raised beds.
The students are extremely enthusiastic and need no excuse to get themselves dirty. Whilst clearing the raised beds they have made many discoveries including hazel nuts, acorns and various insects ranging from ladybirds to spiders and beetles. Each discovery has been met with assorted ‘oooohs’ and ‘ahhhhhhhs’ which has been a delight to see.
“I have really enjoyed helping the students. Each week is different as they engage in different ways. It’s great to see how much they enjoy the sessions and I have learnt to tailor my approach to the students and to make myself approachable to them. I’m looking forward to seeing the progress in future weeks.”
