All of our students are referred to Alchemy Schools via the Local Authorities and are in receipt of an Educational Health and Care Plan

An Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is a legal document drawn up between the Local Education Authority, Health and Social Care and a child’s family, or a young person between 16 and 25 years of age.

The EHCP identifies a child or young person’s needs and sets out the additional support to meet those needs, over and above the normal SEND budget.

Sections of the EHCP

The Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) focuses on 4 main areas of needs:

  • Communication & Interaction
  • Cognition & Learning
  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Physical & Sensory

Annual Reviews

The Annual Review is the statutory process of looking at the needs, provision and outcomes specified in the Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and deciding whether these need to be changed. The Annual Review is required to take place at least once per year.

However, sometimes, an Annual Review is held early, this is usually when there has been a change in the young person’s education or health needs or if the parent has requested a change of school placement/education provider.
